Tasks are program recommendations or requirements that let users know what they should be doing in the App. Every Task requires users to complete Ladders of their choice within a particular Topic. Once users earn enough XP within that Topic, they complete the Task and earn a badge, which is visible on their Portfolio.
Topics are a way of organizing Ladders into career readiness categories. Users can find Topics on the left-hand side of their Browse Ladders page on a desktop browser, or by clicking on “Browse Ladders” in the Menu on a mobile (smartphone or tablet) browser. Completing Ladders within Topics will also help users gain XP towards completing Tasks. Topics are also broken down into further categories.
Ladders are self-guided instructional activities that develop career knowledge and skills. Ladders help users build skills and learn about career readiness and “real world” topics.
Filters are a convenient way for users to sort through the Ladders on their Browse Ladders page. Users can filter Ladders based on their age group and find Ladders that are new for 2021.
The Profile is where users can view their progress, their Core Personality, Top Pathways, and more. Users access their Profile through the menu on the top of the screen.
The Portfolio allows users to see the activities they have already completed, as well as access Ladder resources.
XP stands for Experience Points. Typically, five XP are worth one minute of estimated in-app activity.
Levels are another way for users to track progress through the App. Users “Level Up” for each 500 XP that they gain.
Ladder Time is the estimated time required to complete an in-app activity. Ladder Time is only meant to be used as a guide for participants; they can use as much time as they need to complete activities.
Hats are careers in the Hats & Ladders App. Users can explore their Hats and find more information about each career in their Hat Collection.
Group Codesare alpha-numeric codes that, when linked with an account, allow users access to our systems. Each group code has a limit of users and is associated with an existing organization.
